Our Classes

Ever wanted to try LD or PF but couldn’t?

We offer free debate lessons and material in advanced debate formats like LD/PF to students of all experiences.

Lincoln Douglas (LD) Debate

LD debate is a one-on-one, values-based debate format primarily focused on philosophical issues. Unlike policy debate, which emphasizes specific policy proposals and evidence, LD debates center around moral and ethical questions. Debaters typically argue for or against a resolution that presents a clash of values, such as justice, equality, or freedom. It is an excellent choice for students who want to pursue philosophy or law.

Public Forum (PF) Debate

Public Forum (PF) debate is a partner-based debate format that focuses on contemporary issues of public interest. It is designed to be accessible to general audiences, unlike some other forms of debate that involve heavy technical jargon or complex philosophical arguments. It is most fitting for students passionate about public speaking and speech.

Classes

We offer free, school year-round classes to students of all debate formats. Please note that the years of experience are not indicative of a student’s skill (e.g. students who may be debating for only a year may be at a varsity level. Our classes are very lecture focused, meaning that we ensure that students have a solid base to start debating.

Here are the levels we offer:

Novice

For students starting debate for the first time or if it’s their first year. Students will learn basic skills like case construction, cutting cards (pieces of evidence), giving speeches, and more.

Junior Varsity (JV)

For students in their first or second year of debate. Students will learn more intermediate skills like efficiency, collapsing to specific arguments, and more.
