Recap: Day Two
In our second session, we went over the specific events that we offer: LD and PF!
What is LD? LD is a one-on-one debate focusing on values and philosophy. It centers on ethical issues every two months, and involves a series of speeches including constructive arguments, rebuttals, and a summary. It emphasizes argumentation, logic, and ethics rather than policy. The format can be found here.
What is PF? In contrast to LD, PF involves two teams of two debaters each (a total of four participants). It ypically revolves around current events or public policy issues. The resolution changes monthly (except for September-December). Each round consists of constructive speeches, cross-examination, and rebuttals, as well as a summary and final focus. The format emphasizes clarity and persuasion, making it accessible to a general audience.
